FINISHES FOR YOUR FLOORS & WALLS! (ABSTRACT)
Today I'm going to finish my previous post about surfaces/finishes for floors & walls, but instead of simple monochrome, this post will be very colourful and abstract!
If you're a fan of mosaics, patterns, textures and crazy surfaces, this post is definitely for you! And if not, my previous post was all about monochrome and simplicity, I'll leave a link at the end.
It started of with me going on pinterest (as always). Just scrolling through some interior pins, and then this image caught my eye;
And the first thing I thought was; "How cool would that look as a wall finish!"
So I scrolled down to see many similar surfaces and patterns and this is how I came up with an idea for that blog post. I've done my research to find the designers or any info about these surfaces and I managed to find quite a lot. There are some surfaces and patterns that I couldn't find much information on, so if you know the designers of them, please let me know in the comments!
I know this looks like a wall finish, I thought that too! It turns out that it's an Art piece. It's available in different forms and colours, you can have this tile pattern on your blanket, pillows or just as an art piece.

Those leaf like tiles are from BottegaNove, there are different mosaic styles available. Those beautiful ceramic tiles mainly represent leafs, flowers or geometric shapes in all sorts of colours. I will definitely use BottegaNove tiles in one of my projects!
BottegaNove specializes in the production of one of the greatest Italian crafts: ceramic and porcelain mosaics. The company dates back to the 1700s and has dynamic approach to its design procedures. Christian Pegoraro runs the company today, and has chosen Cristina Celestino to produce a line of tile mosaics that mixes traditional artisanal skills with a contemporary vision.

"We like the appeal of unique pieces made with traditional techniques. Our collection is born from the traditional crafts that have been perfected by Portuguese craftsmen: the work of lacquered metals, solid woods, marbles and noble metals such as brass and copper and the work of glass, both with rich tradition in Portugal."
I can't wait to use those tiles in a project, I would definitely put them in a bathroom or kitchen area. They're by Mambo Unlimited Ideas - Tejo Tiles, also available in black and yellow.

"Available in glazed or matt finish in an extensive variety of colours and finishes, this clever little tile is supplied with a variety of varying angled faces, which when laid in formations can create different shades on a surface.
We can use Alexander to illustrate imagery, text or even just create imaginative graphics as shown."
I fell in love with the designs of Giles Miller, this particular one is a ceramic 'Alexander Tile'. All of his wall surfaces are textured and reflect light, that's why it's possible to show patterns, imagery or text on your wall finish!

These tiles are for homes and gardens, they're hand made ceramic tiles called 'Deco Rustico Gold & Green' by 'Pataki Tiles'.

ReplyDeleteI can see these tiles fitting into a bathroom space. I usually stick to a monochromatic look keeping things simple as far as walls, more appealing to the eye for me. But I don't mind playing with colour and patterns once and awhile especially for smaller spaces.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! What an artistic idea.
ReplyDeleteI love that green colored tile! So different
